Summary/Abstract: The prepositions and prepositional phrases play an important role in speaking; nevertheless, they have received less attention within teaching the Romanian as a Foreign Language, in the sense that they have been presented, synthesized and exemplified insufficiently, so that they keep creating difficulties of understanding and using to those who are interested. As they have an impact upon the grammar correctness of the expression, we think their rehabilitation is necessary in point of the attention and importance they are given; we can achieve this fact by a balanced approach, by being aware of its tight relation with the other parts of speech, interrelation that in fact has an influence in understanding of the general meaning of the statements. The present work focuses upon the following aspects: 1) characteristics and practical aspects of teaching the prepositions and prepositional phrases; 2.) modalities of classification; 3.) useful work instruments; 4.) conclusion.
