Summary/Abstract: On the occasion of the anniversary of the Day of Brancusi, we decided to make a modest homage to the famous Romanian sculptor going to reflect on how much Mircea Eliade, the equally well-known Romanian historian of religions, wrote about him and his love for stone and flight. At the discovery of Brâncuşi and his works, Eliade, the thinker interested in the origin myths and yearning for spiritual freedom through magical flight, must have found himself in perfect harmony with the sculptor who throughout his life sought the original space of beauty, giving wings to matter and making it sacred. It is precisely this brancusian sacredness of matter that Eliade often refers to in his writings.
