Summary/Abstract: The present study was carried out over a period of four years and aimed at investigating the existing relation between the developmental stage of communication skills and the manifestation of challenging behavior with the purpose of conveying refusal in the case of three children with ASD. The participants were subjected to an intervention based on language and communication stimulation method addressed to children with autism spectrum disorder (LCSMA, Dascăl Crişan, 2012) and according to the results obtained, LCSMA proved its efficiency in the case of the 3 participants included in the study. They acquired functional communication skills to express refusal, acquisitions that facilitated a reduction in the frequency of exhibiting problem behaviors.
