Summary/Abstract: The article examines the transmission of the Present, Future and Future in the Past in the Middle Bulgarian translation of the homilies of Abba Dorotheus of Gaza. The emphasis of the research is mainly on the cases of non-equivalent transmission of the Greek temporal forms, as the freer interpretation of the original text is an important indication for the idiolect of the translator. The use of the studied verb tenses revealed an intertwining of archaic and innovative language features. There are findings of particular importance for the history of the Bulgarian language, namely examples of a linguistic phenomenon not attested in other Slavic texts – the formation of the Future in the Past using the verb имэти.
