Summary/Abstract: Through this paper, we aim to synthesize the terminological and applicative aspects of the linguistic geography method as a preliminary activity of collecting and recording materials. We will highlight the importance of the method in direct research of the multiformal reality of speech and in developing linguistic atlases Ŕ effective instruments and sources of study. We will also point out its limitations, since the method is relevant only for a certain historical moment and a certain moment of speech. By any means, we’re not looking to dismiss the comparative-historical method, we are simply going to make it more comprehensive. Thus, we do not want to lose the previous linguistics, we are just framing it and partially modifying it.
