Summary/Abstract: With a mind cultivated at the most authentic sources and praising classical values, like his uncle did (Lovinescu - a great admirer of the long-established classicism, Holban - a French classicism disciple), Anton Holban introduces a necessary dimension in the Romanian literature: a rigorous and exact phrase, a simple, intellectual and articulate style Lovinescu often referred to. Titu Maiorescu had once strived to place the whole culture within the moulding spirit of discipline, opposite a certain type of disorder (word confusion). Anton Holban belongs to this type of intellectuals, yet less fate-protected.
