Summary/Abstract: Childhood is the time of life when everything is pink. They live in a world where there are no problems. Affectivity of the parents is very important for mental development of the child. In the ,,Mara" novel, written by Ioan Slavici, are presented three types of childhood: the one-parent, the orphan and the normal. Persida and Trică had a one-parent childhood because they were raised by their mother, Mara. She grew them up with care and love but they they inherited her power so, when they grew up, they became strong adults. Națl had a childhood with a normal family. Both, mother and father took care of him but, his father´s authority scared the little Națl so he became an irresponsible adult. Bandi had the hardest childhood. His father left him and his mother died when he was eight. He was an orphaned child and he lived in the mercy of others. Affectivity is very important for children, without it the psychological life is not developed. The age of innocence is one of the most beautiful parts in life and every child deserves a beautiful childhood.
