Summary/Abstract: The main idea of this paper is deconstruction and/or destabilization of the canonical understanding of two important theoretical and political figures, love and jealousy, by using Derrida’s notion of pharmakon. General framowork of this intention is expressed through thinking and re-thinking of the modern concept of subjectivity, as well as its political implications. In and through this re-thinking, I will consider the notions of possession (of the other), appropriation (of the other), and re-appropriation (of the self) and try to analyze concepts of love and jealousy insofar as they interconnect in the structure of subjectivity through the figure of the Other. As the illustrative material theoretical assumptions I was using the Neil Jordan's movie The End of the Affair.
