Summary/Abstract: The article refers to the concept of queer space and its application in research. It discusses the theoretical and empirical struggles observed during the research project that aimed at mapping queer spaces in Kraków. In the first part, we present the broader context and main research stages, i.e. archival as well as interviews based on sketch maps and the use of ArcGIS tools. We then reflect on the process of mapping queer spaces, highlighting definitional problems, the contextualization of the issue, and the frequent incompatibility of themes addressed in the literature with local conditions. The discussion is an opportunity to consider local reinterpretations of queer spaces, derived from our research process and the narratives of our interviewees.
