Summary/Abstract: Seminar „Üle mere – yli meren: Eesti ja Soome kunstisidemete loomine pikal keskajal“, 14. oktoobril 2022 Soome Kirjanduse Seltsis Helsingis. Surprisingly, the topic of medieval artistic ties between Estonia and Finland is a relatively new field of research for both Estonian and Finnish art historians. So how come? Today, our relations with our northern neighbor are close in politics, culture, science, trade and business. However, it turns out that already in the 15th century there was lively communication between the surroundings of Tallinn and the southern and western coasts of Finland. Therefore, the novelty of the topic in art history is primarily due to the developments in our recent history and, as a result, the lack of cooperation between the art historians of the two countries.
