PANDEMIC INVESTMENT DECISION AND CORPORATE GOVERNANCE RESPONSIBILITY

Summary/Abstract: In this paper we will make a presentation of the investments that can be made in companies that have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic and, implicitly, the responsibility of corporate governance. In 2019, in December, the first news appeared about a new strain of a coronavirus that broke out in Wuhan, China. Although the beginning of the year did not seem to bring anything different from the reality we were used to living in, in March we began to make contact with a new life marked by the decision of the world's states to declare a health crisis, pandemic and lock down. Initially, it was believed that a "forced closure" of economies and the recommendation of governments to people to stay at home,would be the solution to get out of the pandemic and thus limit the spread of the virus. In December 2020, the world's states are putting all their hopes into the first Anti-Covid 19vaccine, developed by BioNTech and Pfizer, which has also been authorized in the EU,plus other vaccines that are being approved or already approved. Vaccination began in the European Union on December 27, 2020, at a time of unity. But in this paper we want to observe the effects produced by this pandemic in the investment decision of corporate governance of enterprises that have been directly or indirectly affected by the measures taken by the government to limit the spread of the virus. Thus, from the study of the literature we want to demonstrate the positive link between corporate governance and economic performance of an enterprise, and we will measure governance through the competitiveness indicator. So the research will be based on the link between the pandemic,the investment decision and corporate governance as measured by competitiveness.
