Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the analysis of the interpretation of space themes in Soviet and post-Soviet literature. The study was done about the works of art by Kazakh and Kyrgyz authors, where the problems of space exploration are raised and where the Baikonur Cosmodrome, located on the territory of Kazakhstan, is represented as a ‘gift of modernity’, a legacy of the Soviet era. Post-colonial literary optics allows to take a fresh look at the works of Chinghiz Aitmatov, Olzhas Suleimenov, Zhuban Moldagaliev and other Central Asian authors.
