Summary/Abstract: The text analyses parts of Stanisław Lem’s novel Solaris and Tarkovsky’s movie based on the same book. The author’s goal is to use this as an experiment for the purposes of a dissertation work on Bulgarian fantastic literature. The comparison between the novel and the movie makes it possible to derive some new specificities that define the mechanisms which are pertinent to creating a fictional world. This is placed in thecontext of both mass and classical literature.
