Summary/Abstract: The text we propose presents an attempt at a comparative analysis of a Romanian version and a Macedonian version of the folklore motif of the walled-in woman. In the first part of our analysis, we observe the different presentations of the very figure of the woman. The differences on this point are quite significant. In both cases, we know the identity of the woman but in a different way. In the second part, we analyzе the reason and the moment of the death of young women. Indeed, they also differ enormously, which greatly changes the moral of the story and the effect on the reader or the one who listens to the song. In the third part, we are interested in the characters of master Manol and the masons.
