Summary/Abstract: The performances of contemporary playwright and director René Pollesch deal with the current discourses, hegemonic structures and their impact on individuals. His discourse-theatre also correlates with representational practices, prevailing standards and heterosexual normativity in the context of the neoliberal capitalism, by exposing these closely interrelated categories as constructions and destabilizing them. These are the specific possibilities of contemporary theatre – the answer to the question, what it still can do.
