Summary/Abstract: The present study aims to analyze and describe the so-called problem of the paternity of the Fourth Gospel, beginning with internal arguments that reveal the ionic particularities of the writing, among which we mention the personal style, metaphors, as well as the lexicon marked by symbols, up to arguments of the Tradition of the primary Church, paleographic and archaeological. Moreover, as regards the paternity of the Fourth Gospel, for the Orthodox Church this was not a problem, but on the contrary, a certainty, confirmed by numerous internal and external arguments whose value and importance are unanimously accepted and strongly supported. With regard to the objections to the paternity of the Fourth Gospel by primary and contemporary critics, they could not be argued over time, which is why they remained isolated and without any grounds that history would have considered sound and viable, and for this reason, the Orthodox Church, on the basis of the arguments mentioned above, considers St. John the Apostle the author of the fourth Gospel.
