Summary/Abstract: Production-oriented approach is a teaching method developed in China, which aims to improve and facilitate learners’ production skills. The specificity of POA is that it proposes a coherent approach, in which the increase of motivation is systematically and progressively correlated with the final goal, namely the increase of self-efficacy regarding linguistic production. This is possible through tailoring the learning situations met throughout the teaching process in a circular manner, through some activities of linguistic production which open and close the learning process. The stumbles and lacks which might occur in written or oral communication when learning a foreign language might be caused, among others, by an insufficient stimulation of the learners’ potential to activate their linguistic/discourse production in a certain context. Thus, we consider it appropriate to analyse one of the basic hypothesis on which POA was built, output-driven hypothesis, as well as to illustrate particular ways to apply/materialise it in teaching-learning Romanian as a second language.
