Oral corrective feedback as a repair of learner production

Summary/Abstract: Corrective feedback (CF) has been one of applied linguists’ most significant research interests for the past two decades. Research on CF shows that correcting rather than ignoring errors is better for developing learners’ communicative competence. How and when is this best done? In the present article, we look at the state of research on oral corrective feedback and outline ways to provide it. We suggest looking at correction not as pointing out errors but as repairing learners’ production.
