Summary/Abstract: The main research objective of the submission is to demonstrate the anthropological basis for silence. The paper uses a comparative method allowing an interdisciplinary treatment of the subject of the research. An attempt was made to apply the concept of dignity of the human person proposed by the Lublin-based personalist Adam Rodzinski in the pedagogical and social contexts of the culture of silence. The cognitive results obtained support the conclusion that silence is an important factor in shaping the dignity of the subject understood as personality, in strengthening the individual’s sense of their own dignity and in protecting their ontic dignity constituting the immanent value of human nature.
