Summary/Abstract: Collationes on the Ten Commandments by St. Bonaventure are a kind of speeches with qualities of spiritual conferences and at the same time of scientific lectures. In the first of them the Seraphic Doctor gives motives for keeping the commandments. The author of the article using the method of analysing this text examines whether the arguments presented by St. Bonaventure are relevant to theology and pastoral practice today. The question posed is answered in the affirmative. This conclusion is based on the sought and demonstrated personalism as well as the rationality of the quoted teaching. The purpose of the article is also to familiarize them with the contemporary reader.
