Summary/Abstract: As an egumen of the Secu Monastery, Archimandrite Varlaam has with great spiritual wisdom given this achievement for 24 years, managing to raise many spiritual sons and to form in the Sec valley a true monastic lair, known throughout Moldova, the Secu monastery becoming of prayer, thought and orthodox living.Being raised in a good Christian spirit, feeling a chosen calling, he decided to take advantage of the grace received from God by joining the collective of Neamt Monastery. Attracted by the activity of the famous Egof Dosoftei from the Zosima Shrine and by the party of the wizards in the Secu stream valley, the young Vasile Moţoc settled here about 1590-1592. Forming from a spiritual and a temperamental point of view, exactly as Dosofta's egumen, for fifteen years, he learned the love of God and a great deal of book knowledge, where he learned Greek and Slavonic languages. His case is a work of defense of Orthodoxy. With the thought of the Orthodox Romanians in Transylvania, the Metropolitan of Moldova countered the Cauldron of 1564 and 1581 influenced by Calvinism and from which sermons from the Orthodox holidays were purposely removed. He emphasizes the role of the Church Tradition, defends the honor of the Virgin Mary, of the Saints and of the Holy Cross.
