Summary/Abstract: Entente propaganda took full advantage of the main weakness of the Austro-Hungarian army: the multinationality of soldiers; hiding tensions between peoples (some wanting more rights, others autonomy, independence or even breaking the dual monarchy and joining other states). Allied authorities propaganda promised to the Poles an independent nation state, Serbs, Croats, Slovenes an Yugoslav state, and Czechs and Slovaks an Czechoslovak state. The distributed manifestos contained short speeches with references to the past, especially in the medieval era when there were struggles and riots of the people of Central and South Europe against Hungarians or Habsburgs. Also, the manifestos were trying to convince the Slavic soldiers that they were fighting for a foreign cause, and the evolution of the war is unfavourable to the Austro-Hungarian army.
