Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article is an issue of the protection of personal data in criminal cases in the context of the range of rights of the data subject in the light of Directive 2016/680 and the act on the protection of personal data processed in connection with the prevention and combating of crime. The article presents the relevance of data subjects’ rights for the protection of personal data in criminal cases in the light of the fundamental objectives of Directive 2016/680. The main part of the article is an analysis, to which the individual rights established by Directive 2016/680 are subjected: the right of access to information about the processing authority and the conditions of data processing, the right of access to data, the right to rectification, erasure or restriction of data processing, as well as legal remedies, by comparing the model provided by Directive 2016/680 with the Polish regulation.
