Summary/Abstract: More and more young women are engaged in physical exercise. They perceived sports activity as a determinantof health and an enhanced physical appearance. By exercise, young women achieve their need to develop a positiveself-image and self-satisfaction. Towards this goal, they are driven by the motive for achievement and the need forself-actualization. Participants in our study are students and high school students, who are recreational runners, fitness,sports dance, exercise at the gym, yoga and martial arts. They exercise because afterwards they feel better mentally,because they believe that physical activity is good for health in general, to achieve a more beautiful physical appearanceand to be in better physical condition. Physical activity acts as a catharsis, increases self-confidence, strong will, disciplineand responsibility and developing a positive self-image.
