Summary/Abstract: “The nationality of folklore” is a title inspired by the vast number of articles in the journal “Macedonian Folklore” that deals with the establishment of the Macedonian national affiliation of the folklore as one of the main goals of Macedonian folkloristics. The main interest in this article is focused on the treatment of folklore in the period of ex-Yugoslavia, with a particular emphasis on the idealized, subjective, ideologically, and patriotically burdened narration concerning the folklore and its bearers.
