Summary/Abstract: Eastern Serbia is well known for its numerous mineral, thermomineral, gas-rich ad radioactive springs. Their healing properties have attracted people from surrounding towns since ancient times and it has caused the building of adequate lodging facilities and spa institutions which form the basis of spa-tourism, health-tourism and other forms of tourism. That is also the case with Gamzigradska banja spa near Zajecar and roman palace “Felix Romuliana”. Its mineral springs have been used for healing purposes since 1930. In 1961 hotel “Kastrum” was built in the spa and Institute for prevention, healing and rehabilitation was built in 1978. Along with healing and rehabilitation of peripheral blood vessels and vibration diseases, the institute is also working on organization of sport activities. Customers and athletes have two indoor swimming pools at their disposal, along with numerous sport courts that have been attracting a large number of people interested in sport and recreation.
