Summary/Abstract: In addition to the political history of the regions V.V. Bartold researched, he paid considerable attention to the issues of economic and cultural development. During the rule of the Safavid dynasty, the economic life of Azerbaijan, the peculiarities of agrarian relations in the country, the development of crafts and trade in cities, trade routes, the creative activities of the ruling dynasty, the cultural activities of the ruling circles are an important part of VV Bartold's scientific heritage. V.V. Bartold paid special attention to the history of the Safavid state. During the rule of the Safavid dynasty, he studied the economic development of the Azerbaijani people, as well as the "Iranian" peoples, Ajam Iraq and other regions of the South Caucasus. Iskanderbey Munshi (Turkmen), to whom V. V. Bartold referred more in connection with this period, created a valuable chronicle on the history of Azerbaijan, "Iran" and other countries. Oruj bey Bayat (Don Juan) wrote a historical-geographical work on the Safavid state. The most important indicator of the development of Azerbaijani culture during this period was the widespread use of Azerbaijani Turkish as a literary language, becoming an important means of communication for the peoples living in neighboring countries
