It is relevant in all stages of their early and preschool development, encouraging them to learn and nurturing their love for reading. The paper aims to show the importance of picture books in children's literature and how children participate in the creation of picture books, including the role of their imagination in the process, which later results in their additional motivation to interact with the written word and picture. The paper shows the process of co-creating a picture book made by the educational group of the Kindergarten "Grobnički tići" in Mošćenička Draga near Rijeka. The picture book "Winter" was designed to bring children closer to the experience of snow and the accompanying winter joys, which are rare in that region. Encouraged by the story, the children expressed their creativity by making drawings and playing with materials reminiscent of winter and winter weather.
