Summary/Abstract: Inflation of A's and (un)realistically high grades in primary schools have become the standard and only few people question and discuss them. At the end of the school year, most students pass with excellent grades, and the average grade of the department is often 5.0. High marks would not be in dispute if PISA test results did not prove quite the opposite. What are the fives that our children get and what do they value? Do they show real knowledge and are they even relevant to the future career of new generations? The question also arises as to who supports the "trend of fives", who cares more about A's – parents, teachers, school administrations or all together. Teachers claim to be under a lot of pressure from parents whose children they rate. This pressure especially increases at the end of the semester or school year. That is why the aim of our research is to determine the attitudes of parents on the issue of grades, their engagement in the performance of the child’s school obligations, as well as awareness of the assessment process. The survey included parents of pupils attending primary and secondary school in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period from November to December 2022.
