Summary/Abstract: The work “Respublican People’s Party (CHP)” refers to the period of one-party rule for the period of the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, when the founder of the republic, Mustafa Kemal, tries to give the political processes in the newly created state the appearance that characterizes democratic republics and establishes a political party. The paper briefly describes the prerequisites for the creation of this party and the history of its participation in political processes. The creation of a political party was of great importance in the history of the development of this country. Although there was a period of one-party rule in the country for a long time, until 1950, the existence of this party lays the foundation for a multi-party movement, and in the future, many political parties will emerge based on it. Some researchers talk about the problems of the one-party period and the form of non-democratic government in Turkey during this period, which is a completely understandable criticism and has an objective basis, but many circumstances that led to the existence of a one-party regime in the country should be taken into account; The most important of these was that the country had no experience of party and institutional governance, which meant that the ground was ripe for building a multi-party, democratic state. It was the preparation of this foundation that was of great importance, and the existence of this one party is already the foundation for building a democratic system. The history of the origin of parties in the Republic of Turkey dates back to the period of the Ottoman Empire, when the first political association "Young Ottoman Movement" was created, and later the political party "Unity and Progress". It is true that we cannot call them a political party and movement with modern content, but it is with their existence that the stories of the existence of political parties for the Turkish reality begin.
