Summary/Abstract: In many south-eastern cities (Léipalingis, Veisiejai, Kapciamiestis, Draskininkai, RatnyCia, Pelesa, Zirmiinai, Rédinia, Merkiné, Seinai, Punskas) in certain cases! are coincident with the strong beginning and the strong ending (according to Prof. J. Baléikoni, the sounding strong beginning — i8 in his lecture in 1953-1954). That's probably why there are similar schemes even with the previous one: grudit »grudu", grudus "gridus* but gnitdas, k'elmus "kélmus" but k'é.lmas, Za.yklit "zénklu", Zayklis "zén- Klus*, but Zd.yklas, Zredt,,zedu", Zredits,,zedus", karstit,,stu, karStis,,stus, but kd.rstas, ka.rstu; grinw ,pure*, grrniis ,pure", but green, nugit ,,.ntogu", naked,,naked* Drsk (Svendibré, seeonye); Zantis,,zéntus*, Zvertt,,Zvériu", dgs. defense beast ,,2véris", tv'irth ,,strong", primi ,,first* Rtn? (cf. eZero Bilsa's varying pronunciation of b'i lsu and b'ilst was also heard and confirmed by others (Baléikonis 1978b: 383-384; Savukynas 1966).
