MIRACLE AND ITS SACRED SPACE IN THE MEDIEVAL VISUAL CULTURE OF PRILEP: THE CULT OF WONDERWORKING VIRGIN MARY OF THE MONASTERY OF TRESKAVEC

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to point out the influence of the phenomenon of miracles and wonderworking in the creation of the sacred space of the medieval visual culture of Prilep. Special attention is devoted to the cult of the wonderworking Virgin Mary of the Monastery of Treskavec. The focus is to show the creation of visual culture, both within the sacred space of the church and in the sacred landscape.
