Summary/Abstract: Defined as a specific lexical category, belonging to unconventional languages, slang is made up either of new words or of usual words used with a special meaning. Slang can be used in a particular territory but slang terms are often specific to a certain subculture. Since formal language tends to eliminate certain realities purposely, the use of slang language is often associated with the avoidance of social taboos. For this reason, slang vocabulary is particularly rich in domains like violence, drugs and sex. Sexual slang is a set of terms and phrases used to denote sexual processes and activities which are generally considered colloquial, unconventional and often improper as compared to formal language. Romanian sex slang covers a large area from sexual intercourse and sexual organs (vagina, testicles, penis), sexual orientation (heterosexual, homosexual), sexual partners, promiscuity, prostitution, sexual practices (oral sex, anal sex, masturbation), sexual objects. These terms and phrases can be considered from the point of view of their origins (words of everyday use, dialectal words, borrowings), of their word-formation mechanisms (derivation, diminutives, compounding, reduplication) or of their semantic (phraseological units) or stylistic value (metaphor, antonomasia, euphemism).Sexual slang develops a rapid dynamics closely connected to its expressive force and very often creates controversy over its public use. Crude, unsophisticated and funny, sexual slang is the linguistic expression of the site of life and ecstasy, a potential reason for its great diversity of structure and content.
