Summary/Abstract: In independent Latvia, Latvian linguistics and culture, which is recovering more and more, is experiencing painful blows of fate. Antonina Rekéna was able to see Kalupe's nameplate just before her death, the capital of her life's work. Professor Valdis Zeps of the University of Wisconsin came from the United States of America especially to die in his homeland. | The remains of Harvard University student and professor Jezup Lelis have already been buried in his native Latgala. We have not yet forgotten the tragedy of Polish linguist Stanistaw Franciszek Kotbuszewski. §. m. On February 24, Antons Breidaks, the most active worker in recent deSimtmeciy Latvian linguistics, set out for "Uzsaulj", as the Latvians say. It is especially sad that all of the aforementioned left their beloved field of linguistics too early.
