Summary/Abstract: The presented study deals with a usage of secondary (synchronic) motivation of Slovak hydronyms – the hydronyms are motivated by contemporary oikonyms – and primary (diachronic) motivation, which means that the hydronyms are usually motivated by Old Slavonic appellatives.
