Summary/Abstract: Stressors at work have persisted for a long time, leading to the exhaustion of primarily adaptive capacities, and thus syndromes of symptoms appear, which are referred to as occupational burnout. Such a situation is characteristic of professions that require primarily direct contact with another person, i.e. teachers, psychologists, therapists, nurses, doctors, etc. (Sęk, 1996). The subject of the study is the professional burnout of teachers in special schools, while the goal is to find out whether teachers in special schools feel professionally burned out. During the research, the interview method was used. It is also worth noting that the conducted research is illustrative - it shows an individual aspect of the work of a special education teacher. It does not authorise the formulation of generalisations and far-reaching conclusions. It allows to emphasize such factors, which in the individual perception prove to be difficult, and draw attention to the shortcomings of both systemic training, which has a significant connection with education, and in-service training. According to the study, the demands of the employer lead to a burden in the work of a special educator. The main support is teachers, management, as well as access to various social networks.
