Summary/Abstract: Cinema enjoys a privilege: it offers us, as Jean Louis Schefer powerfully puts it, “the only experience in which time is given to me as a perception. In order to better understand history not only “in the present”, but “in movement”, to which the films of Kovalenko or Babylon’ 13 contribute, we must take a detour. The contrast is, indeed, eloquent with the position adopted by the great documentary filmmaker Sergei Loznitsa, in Maïdan (2014). In order to identify the radical gap that separates this film from that of Kovalenko, it is first necessary to specify the conditions of their realization.
