Summary/Abstract: The present research represents the first structured research of the challenges when using projects to achieve transformation in the food industry in a rapidly developing economy with ambitious and fast-growing companies. The analysis also indicates, but does not generalize, that there are challenges related to bottom managing the individual projects and top managing, the relationships between the projects and their environment. Some environmental issues as: food safety, waste management and sustainable development were widely approached in the foreign literature, have been made many attempts by stakeholders, but issues raised for the food industry should more carefully study. In this case, effective monitoring and evaluation is needed, which requires not only data, but also building institutional capacity, clarifying the functions of various structures, creating new structural units as necessary and maintaining research activities within the framework of policy priorities and activities for the development of Kazakhstan food industries.
