Research on Students’ Knowledge about Bulgarian Sports

Summary/Abstract: The ultimate goal of school-age physical education training is to achieve harmonious development and physical and mental perfection, and the expected results are achieved through the formation of competencies in the field of physical culture practice. In order for a person to be competent, he/she must possess a certain amount of knowledge, skills and attitudes that are essential components of the learning content. Through the article, a study is made on the available knowledge of the students in the field of Bulgarian sports. The method of pedagogical research didactic test was used. The contingent of the research is 88 students from the high school stage of the secondary level of ducation from 7 schools in the District of Stara Zagora. After statistical processing of the data, the obtained results show the presence of knowledge about the famous successful Bulgarian athletes, but insignificant, incorrect and incomplete knowledge about their most significant sports achievements. The information is acquired from various sources - primarily from TV sports broadcasts.
