Summary/Abstract: This article thoroughly discusses the 1793 plan of the fortress of Kamenets Podolskiy by Joseph Ekert, kept in the Russian State Military-Historical Archives in Moscow. To determine when it was made, Ekert’s plan was compared with the plans by Jan Schüller of 1773 and Dementiy Meleshchenkov of 1797. It is shown that Ekert’s and Schüller’s plans were based on the ‘Large Plan of Kamenets Podolskiy’, with only slight changes to the fortress defence structures, and that it is Ekert’s plan that presents a slightly earlier version of the fortifications. Ekert’s plan makes it possible to establish the original, unrealised concept of the Kamenec barracks location as designed by Stanisław Zawadzki.
