Summary/Abstract: The manipulative effect of the text that is present in the tabloid editions is also strengthened by the fact that it is presented, as Zambova notes, in an information medium that is traditionally trusted and is perceived by most people, at least in our country, quite literally , and not as a kind of fiction. The manipulativeness of the text is also expressed in the fact that the text itself is manipulative. Already written and shaped, the text actually presents one point of view, that of the author. The selection of linguistic means, with the help of non-verbal means, is a subjective way of describing events, people and phenomena. The truthfulness of the events reflected in the newspapers cannot be verified at the time of reading the text. And hardly a large part of the readers need such verification, because the texts are read like fairy tales, like stories about the rich and famous, in which the ways of persuasion are at the last place in the scale of perception of the text. The addressee is interested in a captivating, possibly unburdening and entertaining story that will bring them subjective benefit.
