Summary/Abstract: Since XIXth century, the periodical press in Bulgaria has resorted to shocking news, exaggerations and often lies in order to manipulate gain an audience and sell its publications. In the Bulgarian Renaissance press, there are also texts that stylistically and structurally come close to the sensationalism and tabloids in the world press. The pages of the revival newspapers feature obituary-type articles that are quite naturalistic, curious and even sensational in style and tone. The evolution of the text and thought during this period are obvious and strongly contrasted with the previous Bulgarian reality.
