The role of agrifood markets in local market development and the revival of small towns

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the work is the use of critical analysis of development of small towns in the rural areas for the revival process. The study presents the essence of two models of transformation: global, subordinated to globalization process and the niche one that is connected with the idea of sustainable development and is realized in local dimension. The key elements of local agrifood markets are presented. Advantages for actors operating in local food production and distribution systems are discussed.
