Institutional forms of cooperation of local government on the example of Jelenia Góra urban area

Summary/Abstract: The nature of many public services performed by local government units (LGUs), often goes beyond the boundaries of administrative units. In this case, more efficient and effective public service requires at least coordination, and sometimes also the institutional forms of cooperation. The analysis shows, however, that despite the existence of many institutionalized forms of cooperation of local governments we have to deal with the glaring shortage of cooperation. The closer analysis of the scope and forms of cooperation has its minor importance in the implementation of local government tasks. This generally indicates low level of cooperation of local governments in Poland.
