Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the notion of asyndeton as the issue of photography and literature convergence. The main focus of attention in the article is directed towards two theory-based proposals: ‘photo-literature’ and ‘urban practices.’ The former, associated with François Soulages, represents the idea of a combined effort of a photographic as well as literature image. The latter, represented by Michel de Certeau, is associated with the function of asyndeton as a rhetorical figure which describes spatial arrangement and equips an individual activity of walking with a meaning. According to the author, the process of producing images is similar for both theories in question. In a broad sense, the article applies de Certeau’s concept to the poetic experience of a journey. This particular approach to asyndeton, in terms of its composition and imaging functions, is well illustrated in photopoetic collections by Andrzej Kramarz and Jacek Podsiadło (2022), and Marcin Świetlicki and Wojciech Wilczyk (1996). Based on these examples, the author concludes that the rhetorical meaning of asyndeton extended to a photographic image defines this stylistic figure as the representation of the metaphor of a journey and a composition device related to the subject of a poetic image.
