Summary/Abstract: The procedures for the formation of new words in the Romanian language demonstrate the living character of Romanian, the mechanisms in which the derivation, composition, and conversion processes are regulated by certain laws. The present paper briefly defines these processes, focusing mainly on a very productive phenomenon in Romanian, namely conversion. Thus, the different passages from one class to another of the words in the vocabulary of the Romanian language are described, as well as brief observations, as far as the available space, for the passage of each class. Adjectivization, substantivization, and adverbialization are presented as the phenomena that offer the highest productivity for enriching the vocabulary of the Romanian language by changing the grammatical value, and then analyzing a few instances of such words from the perspective of stylistics in the text Memento mori, by Mihai Eminescu.
