Summary/Abstract: In this critical essay I tried to describe the work of an important writer of Romanian exile, literary historian and literary comparator Alexandru Ciorănescu, who put the Canary Islands and the university of these islands on the maps of Spanish and global culture, he addressed in all published studies in the country, before and after going into exile, the motives and influences of European literature on Romanian literature, he dealt with the theory of comparative literature, the Golden Age and the Spanish Baroque or, why not, the study of utopia or dystopia as a literary patern. His work, which in the meantime has found its cover in Romanian translation, has been perfectly integrated into Romanian literary studies, covering a vacuum of information that the years of communism failed to cover, and the evolution of Ciorănescu’s work will evolve organically from now on. To these studies or volumes is added the ethical exemplarity with which he lived the life of an exile, and let's not lose sight of this aspect, highlighted by several of his literary exegetes from Romania.
