Summary/Abstract: In modern Romania, the published press was a favourite medium for the liberals to propagate their political discourse. Their special interest in press derives both from the liberal doctrine background ‐ the freedom of thinking and of speech ‐ as well as from a certain political pragmatism, in order to promote a new social and political reality. The press held a much more important role than the simple information or the mediation of the contact between individual citizens, actively helping in the creation of a social solidarity, while underlining the liberal values and discourse. The newspaper, as a pattern to structure the reality, can be considered as an internal platform, which allowed a reciprocal vizualization within the liberal spectre, along with the feeling of belonging to a great society / association; the gestures of the political leaders, but also the simple mention of some simple party members names (such as the lists with people joining the party); published press had also a role in offering legitimacy to the political condition of liberalism / liberal. Mobilizing the members was reached also through collecting information to denounce the opposite regime / party, as a form of denying the ʺdisorganized worldʺ. On the other hand the press filled the role of coordinating the party, in the Romanian society context, the liberal members from the local offices being required to watch the directions tranferred through the partyʹs press. In this approach, I will not analyze the liberalʹs press discourse, but I will present some means of the liberal effort to impose their discourse towards the society and to establish the others agenda, as characteristics of the partyʹs power. The newspaper ʺOrdineaʺ played a pivotal role in constructing the propaganda liberal campaign in the opposition years (1928‐1931). „Ordinea” is a case in itself, the newspaper being closely tied, although claiming independence in the public space, to losing the power by liberals after almost uninterrupted 10 years of governing, and, is one of the most interesting press cases in the Romanian context between the world wars. It distinguishes itself in terms of goals and use. Founded in december 1928 by Tancred Constantinescu together with Stelian Popescu, the director of the newspaper ʺUniversulʺ and ran by a professional, Mihail Burileanu, „Ordinea” wanted to demask the national‐peasons government, capable of affecting, in the P.N.L. representatives view, the order of the romanian state established by the liberals in 1918. The anti‐government campaign consisted in dafamations and accusations regarding people and facts, the backdoor rumors prevailing over the news, the underground informations designed to induce the idea of an intimate knowledge of the governmentʹs and National Peasons Partyʹs ʺaffairsʺ.
