Summary/Abstract: The present study aims at obtaining demographic information regarding the Catholic population of the parish of Faraoani, as it is presented, on the basis of a status animarum elaborated in 1781. Our research took into account a series of demographic parameters: the fertility, the average age of women at the birth of the first surviving child, remarrying, adoption, multiple births, the age difference between the spouses and the average population age. After analyzing the information, as it is presented in the source, we could see the fertility of women within our study is 2.68, but we believe that the real value goes up to three children per woman. At the same time, the average age of women at the birth of the first surviving child is around 25. In our opinion, this parameter can be related to the marriage age, as, for Medieval and Modern populations, the first child is born soon after the marriage. Thus, we believe that the average age of women at marriage is 20. We may also observe that it is a young population, as the average population age within the status animarum is 23.05.
