Summary/Abstract: Like many inter-war writers, Gib Mihăescu actually fought at the front during the First World War, and this aspect is reflected in his youthful writings, which have the action placed at the background of the great world armed conflict. Gib Mihăescu offers, in these texts, a realistic image of the war: the soldiers with their fears, the trenches - almost non-existent, the air stuffed with the smell of corpses and, especially, the implications of the scourge on the human mind. The real aspect of narration, which predominates in these writings, in contradistinction to many later writings, is filled out with wistfulness that increase the anguish of the characters. A careful look relegates the writer, from now on, at the image of the always spectacular sky, which reflects, through its constellations, the surrounding reality of the heroes, their fears and hopes.
